“I’m Freaked Out About Having to Write Content For My Blog” by Jerry Hart

Most often heard phrase when I’m on the phone with clients. I have NO TIME!

“I’m freaked out about having to write content for my blog!”

First and foremost, blogging is about engaging.

Think of your blog as your booth at a convention. If you are a lawyer and you go to a legal marketing convention, you will find what? Legal marketers and lawyers. They are all saying pretty much the same things. They all want pretty much the same thing. Their interests are aligned or similar, and yet many of the people at the convention are competitors.

When you blog, you may be tempted to try to isolate yourself from your competitors and peers. Your fear may be that if you draw attention to somebody else, then attention, which is a finite resource in the world, will be drawn away from you. This thinking is natural, and it is wrong.

Ever heard the expression “the more you give, the more you get?”

If you are a blogger, that should be your mantra.

The more you give credit to others, the more positive attention it draws back to yourself.

How to write a “I HAVE NO TIME TO WRITE TODAY” blog post

Here’s a post I wrote on Jack in the Box that demonstrates how to promote others and save time. I grabbed a good quote from the article I found online, did a copy/paste and linked to the article and added my custom introduction.

Worthwhile blog read from Ian Fernando, “Why Keepin’ It Real Builds Twitter Followers”.

Great post Jerry. I think it’s easy for people to feel overwhelmed about what to post on a blog. I often just think of a topic off the top of my head and write a few sentences to start. I have a simple formula I follow for most posts.

Another great starter is to post about what someone else posted and quote them.

I’m one of those people who in the past has lamented having to write blog content. You’re so right that it’s always easy to just put together an article telling about someone else’s great content (giving them a plug). And I love what you said about the more credit you give to others, the more it reflects positively on you. Same as retweeting on Twitter! It’s all about paying it forward and the new paradigm that is social media. Spread the love!

Wow Jer, your posts are always so well thought out and prepared. You strike the iron when it’s hot and know how to express what really matters most.

I have often posted on others blogs as well as plugged other competitors and I am a true believer in what you put out you will get back 10 fold.

Better watch what you wish for. Yet better also watch what you post or rather don’t post as it may kill your progress.

I know articles can take a couple of hours to put together, yet plugs can take only minutes.

Cool site, love the info.
