My goal is to help you figure out how to apply Twitter to your business. One way is to look at the big companies like ABC to get more curious so you can figure out how to apply Twitter to your business. Your curiosity for Twitter is a good start to leveraging Twitter for speaking engagements, partnerships, and most importantly paying clients! Aren’t you curious to see ABC-TV use Twitter for something completely OFF THE HOOK! I love this.
George Stephanopoulos interviewing John McCain ALL ON TWITTER?
Stephanopoulos and McCain have announced that they’ll be holding a “Twitterview.” Anyone who’s interested can send discussion ideas to the television reporter’s Twitter account, and then, starting at noon on the 17th, Stephanopoulos will pose questions to McCain 140 characters at a time. McCain should answer in the same fashion (although he may be able to tweet more than once per exchange).

Everybody’s excited about the idea. On George’s Bottom Line, Stephanopoulos explained that this is “all a part of exploring new ways to connect with our ‘This Week’ viewers online.” He also noted, “This week I ‘tweeted’ with Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., about her vote against the omnibus legislation on Twitter. And I’ve been enjoying replying to viewers’ questions online.”
As for McCain, the message he made public prior to mentioning the Twitterview reads, “Tweet Announcement: Met with the Vietnamese Ambassador to discuss upcoming trip to Vietnam - posted here first!” So he obviously likes the service, too.
Now that you’re more curious let me nudge you to:
Publicize your news, updates, timely information about your company on Twitter. GET CURIOUS or get left behind. Let your followers know that you just wrote something related to your niche or that your business is having some big event etc…you never know when one of your followers wants to spread your message viral or maybe you pick up a new customer who saw you Tweet.
Get that Bio of yours at the top right corner and make it tight and bright. Add a link back to your site. If people want to do business with you they will take the next step and check out your site.
Get curious about (RT) Re-Tweeting. I’m guilty too. How disrespectful this is to those who allowed me into their circle of followers. I should have known that it is a two-way Tweet. Re-tweeting someone shows your maturity along with your seriousness about your business. So take it from me. Be courteous.
GETTING CURIOUS GETS HIM BANNED!
Thanks to Will from Los Gatos, CA., who receives my blog updates on Mondays and Thursdays who emailed me today complaining that he got banned from Twitter. One of my suggestions last week was to check out Top 100 Twits and he choose to add as many as he could in one visit. Not only did he become lopsided on his followers/following ratio, almost 5 following to every 1 follower, his account was suspended today. I mentioned to pace yourself in any social network as they do not tolerate anything less than authentic. Let follows come naturally as opposed to a desperate twitter user.
